Publication Studio
While school was fully online for COVID-19 my junior year, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to make cool things like I used to at the studio.
I was completely wrong, there are plenty of opportunities to make amazing work no matter where you are. I took two semesters of Kevin Auer’s Publication Studio course, learning about so many cool book structures and exploring my style.
Below are some of my favorite projects throughout the year.
Myths Make Reality More Intelligible.
A project in response to hate crimes against Asian Americans.
The title is one of Jenny Holzer's truisms that particularly resonates with me.
The text in gold are the model minority myths used to silence Asian voices, the drawings are the eyes of the people who have lost their lives due to hate crimes, particularly the shootings in Georgia earlier this year.

the moon song.
An astronaut love story! For this assignment we were asked to craft a narrative using the lotus book structure. The intricate folds and star paper I had handy inspired me to make a book using lyrics from one of my favorite songs, The Moon Song. In the book, the two astronauts are on opposite sides of the story, but I would like to think that when then book is folded and closed they get to be together.

Frog Nouveau
For my publication studio class, I was tasked with reimagining an art piece through a long-stitch binding book. I chose to make a sticker book filled with Art Nouveau inspired frogs.
